A Presidential proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
The End User Support Specialist I position handles basic end-user support tasks, such as finding and fixing problems with end-user devices and connections, and talking to staff about how to solve issues with procedures and technology. It includes following up on issues and problems until they are solved or passed on, and looking for causes and solutions to problems. This position helps individuals’ daily operations run smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots a variety of end user computing and connectivity issues.
- Confers with personnel in resolving problems involving procedural and technical matters.
- Evaluates and follows through on issues and problems until resolved or escalated.
- Researches problems and recommends solutions.
- Provides established guidance, recommendations, and solutions in the use or selection of a variety of hardware and software products in order to achieve end user’s goals and in remain in accordance with policy requirements.
- Ensures work is accurate and in compliance with departmental or project quality standards.
- Provides training to end users on the use of widely used applications and various specialized software applications.
- Serves on committees to develop technical standards and direction.
- Determines information needs and requirements by meeting with customers and technical staff.
- Assists end users with new technology deployments.
- Assists with the evaluation of new technologies to determine their applicability with regards to end user needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four months of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Knowledge of advanced IT, intermediate troubleshooting, client relations, formulating and contributing ideas, and knowledge of the Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL).
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of related experience.
Special Requirements:
- Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of four years of experience.
