As Application Architect / Technical Leader, you will be pivotal in designing and delivering robust, scalable, and secure applications that empower professionals supporting children and families. Your leadership will ensure technical excellence, accelerate digital adoption, and set new standards for public service technology. What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and updating comprehensive software architecture documentation for mission-critical applications.
• Translating functional specifications into robust technical solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs.
• Championing development best practices-clean code, SOLID, DRY-and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Leading the technical implementation of application modules using Java, Angular, and modern frameworks.
• Optimizing code for performance, scalability, and maintainability, with a focus on memory management and response times.
• Organizing and conducting code reviews, refactoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Validating development and unit tests, ensuring high-quality, reliable deliverables.
• Overseeing deployment processes, validating solution delivery across diverse environments.
• Ensuring compliance with enterprise standards, reducing technical debt, and driving library/framework upgrades.
• Coaching and mentoring development teams, disseminating best practices and technical guidance.
• Collaborating closely with analysts, testers, project managers, and middleware specialists in an Agile/SCRUM environment.
• Communicating effectively with stakeholders, providing regular feedback and supporting project evaluation.
• Delivering solutions for flagship projects in child welfare, prenatal care, and vaccination management.

• Ability to coach, mentor, and elevate technical teams
• Hybrid work mode: minimum 50% on-site presence required in Brussels
• Freelance position: Project duration from mid-November 2026 to end of 2027
