Job description
The Enterprise Systems Administrator is a member of a technical team responsible for the development and advancement of Binghamton University’s enterprise systems in the Information Technology Services Department. This position will report to the Associate Director of Enterprise Systems as a member of this team.
Responsible for the University systems infrastructure, this group identifies and builds solutions that are reliable, scalable, and based on proven technologies by vendors such as Microsoft, VMware, Oracle, RedHat and many others.
The Systems Administrator responsibilities include installing, configuring, and/or maintaining servers primarily in the University’s Windows environment as well as resolving tickets.
Areas of responsibility may include:
O365 / Azure cloud AdministrationFileserver managementDatabase Administration (SQL)General systems maintenancePerformance monitoring
The successful candidate will:
Work on a team that is responsible for providing support and guidance to the University’s functional areas and end users including students, faculty, researchers, and staffDevelop processes and workflows to work with the ticket management system and improve efficiencyAssist in maintaining documentation of system architecture, configuration management, and a change-log as part of a team-player mentality
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience with Windows domain tools and PowerShell scripting.
Job Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Sciences, or a related field -OR- an Associate’s Degree in a related field and 2 years of Systems AdministrationExperience with Windows and/or Linux systems management, Bash and/or PowerShell scriptingCommunication and documentation skillsAnalytical and problem-solving skillsExperience working in a large complex organizationDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and tasksDemonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environmentEvidence of effective interpersonal skills and customer service orientation to coordinate, manage, and consult with individuals from all levels
Preferred:
Two or more years relevant systems administration experienceDemonstrated skills in software design, debugging, testing, and documentationRelevant experience integrating business systems and applications in a higher education environmentExperience with Systems automation (WSUS, Azure, Ansible ect)Experience with database systemsExperience building interfaces and integrations between disparate systemsExperience with Linux and Shell scriptingAbility to understand languages, tools, and frameworks such as C, Groovy/Grails, Java, PHP, PL/SQL, Python, XML, Eclipse, and/or SCCMExperience with AWS, Azure, or similar cloud infrastructureExperience with Apache and TomcatExperience with applications used in Higher Education such as Ellucian Banner, ODS, MS SQL, Windows Domain structure, and Oracle software
