Network Engineer

GDIT has an exciting opportunity to participate in the Security Assistance Group - Ukraine (SAG-U) as a member of our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program supporting U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s (USAREUR-AF) mission in Wiesbaden, Germany. The Network Engineer designs, plans, and builds the SAG-U Mission Partner Network, and hardens and maintains the organization’s current commercial network. The position plans and implements major changes to core routing and switching infrastructure as well as major network modifications and expansions. The Network Engineer analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems, learns new platforms, and develops and deploys multi-tenant enabled solutions in support of an operational mission.HOW A NETWORK ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACTAnalyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks; designs and builds the hardware and software components of the SAG-U Mission Partner Network and the organization’s commercial network.Plans and implements major changes to core routing and switching infrastructure, and major network modifications and expansions.Configures routers, switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems, and VPN concentrators, with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols.Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and remote access systems.Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policy, and maintains system backup and recovery capability.Monitors the network using industry leading technologies, and works closely with systems and security teams to define requirements, monitor network traffic, and respond to anomalies or security concerns.Provides Cisco Umbrella Domain Name System (DNS) services.Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance the capability of the network, and develops and deploys multi-tenant enabled solutions.Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed, including developing designs and initial bills of material (IBOMs), and works closely with vendors to design and implement new systems.Provides technical training, documentation, and technical assistance to Help Desk personnel and other organizations, and coaches and provides guidance to less-experienced professionals.Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology, and maintains, or acquires, the certifications necessary to meet evolving mission needs.Provides support to other network issues that may impact the SAG-U mission, to include modifying and supporting configuration changes.May serve as a team or task lead.May require shift work or coverage during weekends and holidays.WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEEDRequired QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

experience.Required Experience: 5+ years of related network engineering experience.Required Technical Skills: Experience designing and implementing routed networks in multi-enclave, multi-vendor environments requiring high availability. Knowledge and experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) design, protocols, profiles, management, and functions. Knowledge and experience with Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC). Knowledge and experience with Windows Server 2019.Security Clearance Level: Must possess and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.Required Certifications: CCNA or equivalent industry certification. IAT Level II certification or higher to meet DoD 8570 requirements.Required Skills and Abilities: Ability to work individually and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.Location: On customer site, Wiesbaden, Germany.
