Part-Time System Architect - Federal Contract (Remote, US)

Own the technical design for integrations between the platform and authoritative federal data systems, including a one-way sync from a read-only MS SQL Server view and consumption of an existing REST web API.

• Define data mappings, validation and transformation rules, exception handling, and reconciliation approaches for prepopulation pipelines.

• Review designs and code across a stack of Drupal, Angular, Node.js/Express, and MongoDB; guide cross-module data alignment and API design.

• Support release planning and controlled deployment through GitHub Actions CI/CD; advise on performance and reliability in an Azure for Government environment.

• Participate in sprint planning and technical reviews with the Government product owner (two-week sprints).

Role-specific qualifications: Experience architecting or leading development of multi-module web applications; strong data integration background (SQL and NoSQL); familiarity with Node.js and Angular ecosystems; Azure or comparable cloud experience. Drupal familiarity a plus., General requirements: US-based and working on US soil; Bachelors degree plus at least 3 years of relevant experience (required by our GSA contract); federal contracting experience a plus.

Compensation: $70 per hour (1099 or W2 hourly depending on arrangement), paid for hours worked., The engagement: approximately 140 hours in year one, then approximately 60 hours per year in subsequent option years spread as steady part-time work, not a single block. Fully remote from anywhere in the United States, during Eastern business hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET). No on-call or after-hours work, including for critical incidents. One annual planning trip to Fort Collins, CO or Falls Church, VA may be requested for lead personnel. A Government laptop is provided.
