QA Automation Engineer- Associate

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Investment Risk IT team and help shape the quality culture of Risk Navigator and related risk platforms. This role combines thoughtful manual testing with pragmatic test automation, close collaboration with developers and business stakeholders, and a continuous improvement mindset.

You will work in a team that values ownership, curiosity, clear communication and learning from each other. We want quality to be built into the delivery process from the start, not added at the end. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys understanding business processes, questioning assumptions, finding meaningful edge cases, and improving how the team tests, releases and supports software.

Your responsibilities -

As QA Automation- Associate, you will:

• Design and execute meaningful manual test cases across frontend, API and database layers, using strong analytical thinking to identify edge cases, business risks and integration scenarios.

• Create clear, traceable test evidence and execution reporting in Allure, helping the team and stakeholders understand quality status and release readiness.

• Work closely with developers, business analysts, product owners and other QA colleagues to understand requirements early, challenge assumptions constructively and build quality into the delivery lifecycle.

• Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts using frameworks such as Cucumber BDD and Serenity BDD, balancing automation coverage with business value and maintainability.

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins to support continuous testing, fast feedback and reliable delivery.

• Contribute to performance, load and stress testing where needed, with a focus on application reliability, scalability and operational confidence.

• Participate in reviews of test code, test design and team working practices, sharing feedback in a constructive way and learning from others.

• Analyse test results, defects and quality metrics to identify patterns, improve coverage and support better delivery decisions.

• Bring ideas for improving our QA approach, automation strategy, tooling and ways of working, helping the team become more efficient, transparent and confident with every release.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on quality assurance experience, with confidence in both structured manual testing and automation-led quality practices.
• 3+ years of experience in test automation, ideally in complex enterprise application landscapes.
• Experience with automation frameworks such as Serenity BDD, Cucumber and Gatling, or a strong willingness to deepen expertise in these tools.
• Hands-on experience with version control systems such as Git, CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, and build tools such as Gradle. Experience testing RESTful APIs and web services for functional and non-functional requirements.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with a collaborative mindset and the ability to contribute constructively in planning, refinement, testing and retrospectives.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain quality risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A team-oriented attitude, curiosity to understand business processes, and motivation to improve testing practices, delivery confidence and overall engineering quality.
• Experience in finance, investment risk or asset management is a strong plus, but curiosity and willingness to learn the domain are just as important.
• ISTQB certification is a plus
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); German is a plus
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
