Senior Software Engineer III

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Sr. Java Developer for a CONTRACT role with one of our premier Banking clients in Cincinnati, OH. Onsite required, * Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable and high-performance Java applications.

• Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
• Design and implement cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins to automate build, testing, and deployment processes.
• Perform code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, business analysts, and cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions.
• Integrate applications with internal and external systems using APIs, messaging, and cloud services.
• Conduct performance tuning, optimization, and application monitoring.
• Implement security best practices, coding standards, and compliance requirements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, design artifacts, and operational procedures.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance application performance and development efficiency.
• Support production deployments and resolve application issues as needed.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Java Developer with 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, AWS cloud services, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and CI/CD automation using Jenkins. This role requires participation throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design to deployment, support, and continuous improvement., * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience using Java.
• Strong experience with Java 8/11/17 and object-oriented design principles.
• Hands-on experience developing microservices using Spring Boot.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and API integration.

• Strong knowledge of AWS services such as:

• EC2
• ECS/EKS
• Lambda
• S3
• RDS
• CloudWatch
• IAM
• VPC

Experience using Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.

Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.

Proficiency with Git and source code management practices.

Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.

Strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.

Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of messaging platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SQS/SNS.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, ELK, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and cloud security principles.
• AWS Certification (Developer Associate, Solutions Architect, or equivalent) is a plus.
