Remote Sr AI Software Engineer

We are seeking a Senior AI Software Engineer to lead the design and development of a Grievances & Appeals platform supporting Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial healthcare operations. They are looking to integrate AI into this new platform buildout. This engineer will be responsible for building intelligent solutions that automate the intake and processing of appeals and grievance forms by extracting data from multiple sources, transforming unstructured content into structured JSON formats, and leveraging AI/ML models to streamline workflow automation and decision support. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience developing production-grade AI applications in Python, with expertise across the full software development lifecycle including CI/CD, model deployment, and cloud-native architectures. This role requires experience building and deploying AI solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as Pub/Sub, cloud-based AI/ML services, and scalable event-driven architectures. The engineer will also be responsible for implementing secure development practices, integrating security scanning tools such as Snyk, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, compliant, and highly available solutions. Experience with GitHub Actions, GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering best practices is required. Healthcare domain experience, particularly within Grievances & Appeals, Medicare, Medicaid, claims, or utilization management processes, is highly preferred. Exposure to Java and Spring Boot is a plus, as portions of the platform integrate with existing enterprise services.

7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2-3 years focused on AI/ML application development

Strong Python development experience building production AI solutions

Experience deploying AI/ML workloads on GCP (Vertex AI, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, GKE, or related services)

Hands-on CI/CD experience using GitHub Actions and GitHub-based development workflows

Experience designing data extraction, document processing, and JSON transformation pipelines

Knowledge of security scanning and secure SDLC practices, including tools such as Snyk

Experience building scalable microservices and event-driven architectures Healthcare payer experience with Grievances & Appeals, Medicare, Medicaid, or Commercial health plans
