Document & Workflow Solution Architect

Shivom Consultancy is looking for an experienced Document & Workflow Solution Architect to join our growing architecture practice. You will provide architecture leadership across enterprise document processing, intelligent document processing, workflow, business process automation and robotic process automation. The role will focus on how organisations receive, digitise, classify, extract, validate, route, process, retain and produce information at scale, and how these capabilities integrate with wider digital services, case management platforms and enterprise systems.

You will also help organisations make informed decisions about automation, including where technologies such as UiPath and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) provide genuine business value and where more sustainable approaches such as APIs, event driven integration, workflow services or native platform capabilities should be introduced. You will work across document ingestion, intelligent document processing, digital mailroom, workflow orchestration, RPA, managed file transfer, digital correspondence and high volume print services.

The role requires someone who combines strong solution architecture skills with practical understanding of document, workflow, automation and integration technologies. You will work closely with enterprise architects, product teams, engineers, automation specialists, data teams, cyber security specialists, operational stakeholders and technology suppliers.

This role will support major UK public sector and enterprise transformation programmes within Shivom’s client portfolio.

What you will be doing You will:

• Lead solution architecture across enterprise document processing, workflow and automation capabilities.
• Define current, target and transition architectures for document, workflow and automation platforms.
• Architect solutions for high volume document intake, scanning, digitisation, classification, extraction, validation and routing.
• Design intelligent document processing solutions using OCR, rules based processing, machine learning and AI assisted techniques where appropriate.
• Define enterprise workflow and orchestration architectures spanning people, applications, data and automated processes.
• Architect and govern enterprise Robotic Process Automation capabilities, including UiPath based automation.
• Assess business processes to determine when RPA is appropriate and when APIs, event driven integration, workflow platforms or native application functionality provide a more sustainable solution.
• Define architecture for attended and unattended automation.
• Define reusable RPA patterns covering orchestration, queues, credentials, scheduling, exception handling, monitoring and operational support.
• Assess existing automation estates and identify opportunities to simplify, redesign, consolidate or replace tactical automation.
• Design integrations between document, workflow and automation platforms and enterprise applications, case management systems, CRM platforms, data services and APIs.
• Architect secure Managed File Transfer and enterprise file exchange solutions.
• Define patterns for SFTP, secure batch exchange, encryption, scheduling, reconciliation, failure handling and operational monitoring.
• Support migration from Legacy file based and batch integrations towards API based and event driven approaches where appropriate.
• Define approaches for human in the loop processing, validation, exception management and operational intervention.
• Architect outbound document generation, digital correspondence and high volume print services.
• Identify opportunities to replace manual, paper based and repetitive processes with sustainable digital workflows.
• Develop solution visions, high level solution approaches and High Level Designs.
• Translate business and operational requirements into secure, scalable, resilient and maintainable technical solutions.
• Define and assure non functional requirements including availability, resilience, performance, scalability, security, auditability, disaster recovery, maintainability and supportability.
• Develop technology roadmaps covering platform modernisation, automation evolution, service consolidation, migration and lifecycle management.
• Support migration from Legacy workflow, document and automation technologies to modern cloud based or SaaS platforms.
• Define monitoring and observability requirements for document, workflow and automation services.
• Ensure platforms support auditable and repeatable deployment through modern source control, CI/CD and configuration management practices.
• Work with engineering and delivery teams throughout discovery, design, implementation and transition into live service.
• Review detailed technical designs and implementation approaches against agreed architecture.
• Identify architectural risks, dependencies and technical debt and recommend proportionate remediation.
• Prepare and present architecture decisions through technical governance and design authority forums.
• Support proofs of concept, technical feasibility exercises and technology evaluations.

Applicants must either hold current Security Check (SC) clearance or be eligible to obtain SC clearance .
