IT System Administrator

Our services include providing comprehensive, high-quality literature and information to our globally recognized researchers and infrastructure departments, as well as supporting publication processes, conducting bibliometric analyses, operating the Open Access Monitor Germany, and managing research data. The Information Systems Team (ZB-OI) supports FZJ researchers by providing the Central Library’s systems and services at the technical level and by serving as the point of contact for all IT tasks related to the Central Library’s services., * Implementation, configuration, and administration of Windows and Linux servers

• Installation and administration of database and web servers
• Administration of our virtualization and container solutions
• Administration of Active Directory and management of group policies
• First-level support for users at their workstations
• Advising users on selecting customized solutions for the use of hardware and software at their workstations
• Design, implementation, and evaluation of measures and system solutions, particularly for hardening the IT infrastructure and ensuring information security in accordance with ISO 27001 based on IT-Grundschutz
• Participation in the design and implementation of backup and disaster recovery strategies

• A completed college degree (Bachelor’s or Diploma from a University of Applied Sciences; in computer science, electrical engineering, or information technology) or vocational training as an IT specialist (m/f/d)
• Comprehensive knowledge of Windows (server and desktop) and Linux (servers based on RedHat and Debian)
• Very good knowledge of and experience with virtualized environments and Windows Active Directory
• Experience in container orchestration is desirable
• Experience in software development is an asset
• Ideally, knowledge of ISO 27001 based on IT-Grundschutz
• Ability and willingness to work independently and take personal responsibility, as well as to pursue continuing education
• Confident demeanor and a passion for collaborative work in an interdisciplinary environment
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in spoken and written German and English
