Passive IT Infrastructure Consultant

This Passive IT Infrastructure Consultant role involves owning passive infrastructure design and implementation across the RIBA design and delivery stages. You’ll capture client requirements, turn them into coordinated designs and work closely with M&E consultants, interior designers, architects and contractors.

• Design building and floor distributors (comms rooms), including their size, location, power and air-conditioning requirements, fire strategy, leak detection and structural loads.
• Plan IT risers and carrier entry points, including their number, location, size and containment; coordinate architectural, security and DAS space and connectivity requirements.
• Design horizontal high- and low-level connectivity and copper and fibre backbones. Specify cable routing, containment, management, equipment cabinets, patching frames, layouts, labelling and structured cabling testing methods.
• Coordinate installation methods with other consultants, participate in client, architect and contractor meetings, and inspect work and workmanship on site.
• Own project design and implementation deadlines, create and maintain budgets, and evaluate new products and systems.

• Apply CDM requirements, work safely and identify and report hazards and risks.

• Experience designing passive IT infrastructure through RIBA design and delivery stages, including coordinating designs with other disciplines and translating client requirements into buildable plans.

• Knowledge of passive infrastructure technology and equipment, structured cabling and the design and construction process.
• The ability to organise resources, prioritise work and deliver objectives on schedule and within budget.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical people, attention to detail and experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams) and Bluebeam.

Intermediate AutoCAD/Revit skills are helpful but not essential. Relevant accreditations include BICSI RCDD, CNET CNIDP and CNET CDCDP.

This is a London-based role with hybrid working across home, office and site as required.
