Job description
This is a hands-on development role working closely with the Group Head of IT and Systems and wider teams to develop, improve and maintain bespoke software applications and in-house systems used across the organisation., You’ll be involved across the full software development lifecycle, from understanding business requirements and designing solutions through to development, testing, deployment and ongoing improvement.
You’ll also play an important role in analysing data, developing databases, creating reports and dashboards, troubleshooting application issues and helping to ensure systems remain secure, reliable and user-friendly.
There will also be an element of supporting other members of the IT team, sharing your technical knowledge and helping to develop best practice., * Develop, maintain and improve bespoke software applications and in-house systems
- Work with teams across the organisation to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Write clean, scalable and efficient code
- Design, develop and maintain databases, reports and dashboards
- Troubleshoot, debug and resolve technical and application issues
- Support the full software development lifecycle from design through to deployment
- Evaluate existing systems and identify opportunities for improvement
- Work within an Agile development environment
- Manage code documentation and version control
- Contribute to software security, data quality and system reliability
- Support other members of the IT team
Requirements
We’re looking for an experienced developer with a strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to understand both technical and commercial requirements.
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong experience with JavaScript and SQL/PSQL
- Good knowledge of databases, SQL Server and/or Supabase
- Experience with data modelling and data analysis
- Experience developing applications used by professional users
- Experience working within Agile development environments
- Knowledge of low-code platforms and/or Delphi, VB, C# or .NET would be advantageous, but can be trained!
- Good understanding of UI design and creating intuitive, attractive and user-friendly applications
- Strong attention to detail, testing and error checking
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with non-technical teams
- You must be a team player and a people person, confidently discussing projects with other teams/managers in the organisation to represent the business.

Benefits & conditions
The role offers £45,000 - £50,000 PA, with just one day per month required in the Yeovil office and the remainder working remotely. We require candidates to be within a one-hour drive of Yeovil., * £45,000 - £50,000 PA
