Job description
Mercury Training Services delivers apprenticeships across Security, Facilities Management and Business Administration and Management, working with employers who protect and run some of the most significant sites in the country.
Before any apprentice can start with us, someone has to check that everything is in order: that they are eligible, that the paperwork is complete, that the details are right. That is what this role does. It is careful, methodical work, and it is the reason our apprentices keep their funding and their place on programme.
You do not need to know the apprenticeship sector or the Individual Learner Record to apply. What we need is a professional administrator: someone with a proper grounding in formal administrative or compliance work, who checks rather than assumes, and who is comfortable querying something that does not look right instead of passing it on. We will teach you the funding rules, the systems and the data side, and there is a clear route from here into specialist data and compliance work.
What you will be doing
- Checking every new learner against the eligibility requirements before they start
- Checking prior learning and qualifications, and flagging anything that affects eligibility
- Carrying out compliance checks at each stage of onboarding, from application through to first day in learning
- Making sure agreements, training plans and employer details are complete and correct before a learner goes on programme
- Entering and maintaining accurate learner and employer records on our systems
- Chasing outstanding paperwork with employers, by phone first and in writing where needed
- Learning the Individual Learner Record and the funding rules, and taking on more of that work as you go
Requirements
- At least two years in a formal administrative or compliance role, where accuracy mattered and your work was checked
- Genuine attention to detail and the discipline to check properly
- Confident with Excel, Word and Outlook, and quick to learn new systems
- Comfortable picking up the phone, including to employers, and following an issue through to a conclusion
- Clear, plain written communication
- Organised enough to hold a number of open items at once and keep track of every one of them
- Sound judgement when handling confidential personal information
- Willing to learn, and to be trained and corrected along the way
Nice to have
- Experience in an apprenticeship, training provider or further education setting
- Experience of eligibility or compliance checking of any kind
- Experience of a learner management system such as BUD
- Any exposure to the Individual Learner Record or apprenticeship funding rules
Also worth knowing
- This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check, which we arrange
- You will need the right to work in the UK
- You will need a suitable, secure home working setup, * How many years have you worked in a formal administrative or compliance role?
- Do you have experience of checking documents or applications against set criteria?
- Are you comfortable contacting employers by telephone to chase outstanding paperwork?
