Job description
This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional with previous helpdesk experience who enjoys troubleshooting technical issues, supporting end users, and working across a varied IT environment. You will play a key role in ensuring employees receive efficient technical support while contributing to wider IT projects and infrastructure improvements.
The successful candidate will provide first-line technical support, manage service requests, assist with system maintenance, and support the delivery of IT services across the business., * Provide first-line IT support to users across the organisation.
- Log, track, and resolve incidents and service requests through the IT helpdesk system.
- Escalate more complex technical issues to senior engineers or specialist support teams when required.
- Support the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT hardware and software.
- Assist with day-to-day administration of desktop, laptop, and peripheral devices.
- Carry out routine IT maintenance and housekeeping activities.
- Support the implementation of IT projects and system upgrades.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and user records.
- Help ensure systems, equipment, and processes remain secure and compliant.
- Work closely with colleagues across the business to deliver excellent customer service.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the IT department.
- Assist in maintaining organised and efficient working practices within the IT function.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and user-related issues.
- Familiarity with IT helpdesk or ticket management systems.
- Good understanding of desktop and laptop support.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Team-oriented approach with a positive attitude.
Desirable
- Exposure to Windows Server environments.
- Basic networking knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience supporting printers, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
- Experience using helpdesk management software.
- Understanding of IT security best practices.
QualificationsEssential
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
- NVQ Level 2 in IT or equivalent IT qualification.
Desirable
- Relevant CompTIA, Microsoft, or other industry-recognised certifications.
- Further education in Information Technology or Computer Science.
ExperienceEssential
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience within an IT support, Service Desk, or Helpdesk role.
- Experience logging and managing support tickets.
- General knowledge of IT systems, software, and hardware support.
Desirable
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, or corporate environment.
- Previous experience using an IT service management platform.
