IT Support Engineer

We are looking for a reliable and technically capable IT Support Engineer to provide day-to-day IT support across the organisation and help ensure that our IT equipment, systems, software and user accounts operate effectively and securely.

The Role

The IT Support Engineer will provide technical assistance to staff, diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems, support the installation and configuration of IT equipment and applications, and assist with the effective day-to-day operation of the organisation’s IT systems.

The successful candidate will be comfortable communicating with users with different levels of technical knowledge and will take a practical, organised approach to identifying and resolving IT issues., * Provide first-line and second-line IT support to staff and users.

• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system and connectivity problems.
• Install, configure and maintain computers, laptops, printers, peripherals and other IT equipment.
• Install, configure and support business software and applications.
• Set up and maintain staff user accounts, permissions and access.
• Provide support for email, Microsoft 365 and other cloud-based applications used by the organisation.
• Troubleshoot network and internet connectivity issues.
• Assist with routine system updates, security updates, backups and IT maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of IT equipment, incidents, faults and resolutions.
• Support the secure handling and storage of organisational information.
• Provide technical guidance to staff on the appropriate use of IT systems.
• Identify recurring technical issues and recommend practical improvements.
• Escalate complex technical or infrastructure issues where specialist assistance is required.
• Assist with the implementation and improvement of IT systems as the organisation develops.
• Carry out other reasonable IT-support duties consistent with the position.

Essential:

• Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Previous experience providing IT support in a professional environment.
• Good knowledge of computer hardware and software troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting Windows-based computers and common business applications.
• Understanding of user accounts, permissions, email and cloud-based systems.
• Basic understanding of networking and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Ability to diagnose technical problems methodically and identify appropriate solutions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
• Ability to manage competing support requests and work independently.

Desirable:

• Experience supporting Microsoft 365.
• Experience with network and systems administration.
• Knowledge of IT security, data protection and backup procedures.
• Experience maintaining IT asset and support records.
• Relevant IT certifications or additional technical training.

Salary: £32,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, full-time.

Normal working arrangements and hours will be discussed with the successful candidate.
