If so, we’re looking for you!, We are a dynamic and innovative ICT Department seeking a skilled Windows Server Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for building, supporting and managing both on-premises and cloud-based Windows server environments to support policing across both Norfolk and Suffolk. Requirements

  • BTEC/HNC in an IT/Computing discipline or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience of working in a large Microsoft Server/Technology environment (All Current Versions of Windows with Active Directory)
  • Demonstrate experience of server virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix)
  • Demonstrate experience of working with Microsoft Server Applications (Microsoft Exchange, IIS, SQL)
  • Proven experience of providing third line customer support and solving complex technical problems
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and to work under own initiative as required
  • Proven ability to deliver complex technical solutions to high priority problems on time and within budget
  • To provide flexible working hours / overtime / on call as required
  • Full UK driving licence, owing to the need to drive police vehicles carrying heavy equipment, occasionally out of hours
  • Proven ability to work with and maintain enterprise class database technologies (MS SQL, Postgres)
  • Proven experience of Scripting (TSQL, PowerShell, BASH)
  • Storage - Experience and knowledge of enterprise class storage including Storage Area Networks (SANs), Enterprises NAS appliances and Cloud Storage, * Recent industry standard technical qualification such as MCSE/MCITP
  • Experience of working with products from the Systems Centre Suite, and High Availability based technologies (e.g. Clustering, DFS-R, SQL AAGs, Load Balancing)
  • Experience of cloud-based authentication including Microsoft Entra and general knowledge of Azure
