Job description

At Childsey, we act as a marketing department for our clients, bringing together strategy, design, websites, digital marketing and media production. That means plenty of opportunity to see your work come to life across different businesses, industries and formats.

You could be developing a brand from scratch, designing a website, creating a print campaign or producing assets for social media. You’ll work closely with our wider team to turn ideas into thoughtful, effective creative work.

We’d also love someone with an interest in photography, video or content production. You might already bring those skills, enjoy them as a hobby or be keen to learn. Strong design ability is the priority, so please don’t rule yourself out if media production is new to you.

The role

You’ll take projects from brief through to finished artwork, balancing creative thinking with attention to detail and an understanding of what the client wants to achieve.

Your work will include:

  • Developing brand identities, visual concepts and brand guidelines, including opportunities to build brands from the ground up.
  • Designing websites and landing pages, working alongside our development team to bring them to life.
  • Creating digital assets for social media, advertising, email and wider marketing campaigns.
  • Designing print materials, including adverts, brochures, signage and exhibition graphics.
  • Adapting and developing existing brands, keeping work consistent across different channels.
  • Preparing accurate, production-ready artwork for print and digital use.
  • Contributing ideas, explaining your creative decisions and responding constructively to feedback.
  • Supporting photography, video and content projects, with your involvement shaped around your experience and developing interests.

Requirements

You’ll have a strong portfolio showing a good breadth of design work and the confidence to manage your own projects within a collaborative team.

We’d like you to bring:

  • Experience working at a midweight level, either in an agency, in-house or through freelance work.
  • Strong skills in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • A good understanding of typography, layout, colour and visual hierarchy.
  • Experience across both digital and print design, with an understanding of how their requirements differ.
  • Confidence designing for websites, ideally using Figma or a similar tool.
  • The ability to interpret a brief, ask useful questions and create work that serves a clear purpose.
  • Good organisation, attention to detail and the ability to handle several projects and deadlines.
  • A practical, collaborative approach and an appetite to keep learning.
  • A full driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally for client visits and shoots across the UK.

We expect you to have stronger areas than others. What matters is a solid design foundation, a varied portfolio and a willingness to get involved.

Useful extras

Any of the following would be welcome, but aren’t essential:

  • Photography or videography experience, including personal projects.
  • Video editing skills in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar.
  • Motion graphics or animation skills.
  • Experience supporting shoots, including lighting, sound or planning.
  • Familiarity with Webflow, Shopify or other website platforms.

You don’t need to be a developer or an experienced media producer to apply.

Benefits & conditions

Why join Childsey?

  • Varied creative work across a range of clients and industries.
  • Opportunities to shape brands from the beginning and see your ideas through to delivery.
  • A role where your ideas and contribution will be visible.
  • Scope to build on your strengths and develop skills in other creative disciplines.
  • Hybrid working, with three days a week together at Alderley Park and two working remotely.
  • A great working environment in Cheshire, with occasional opportunities to get out on location and travel for projects.

Interested?

Send us your CV and portfolio, along with a short introduction explaining what you enjoy working on and what you’d bring to Childsey.
