Job description

In this role, you will learn to use our Cloud platform to monitor utility consumption and build data dashboards. You will combine your foundational understanding of electrical systems with data visualisation tools to help us spot energy waste, track carbon emissions, and assist clients in keeping their facilities running efficiently. Comprehensive, on-the-job training on the platform ecosystem will be provided., * Learn how to use our cloud platform to create, update and maintain energy dashboards.

  • Assist with organising and managing energy and utility data.
  • Help set up basic alerts and produce regular energy reports.
  • Support the team in monitoring electricity, gas and water usage.
  • Review energy data to identify unusual changes or potential issues.
  • Assist with checking that energy data is accurate and up to date.
  • Work alongside senior engineers to understand how building meters and equipment connect to our systems.
  • Assist with reviewing basic electrical drawings and diagrams.
  • Help compare information from physical meters with data shown within our cloud systems.
  • Support the team with identifying energy waste and opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Develop your knowledge of building technology, energy management and IoT systems.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the engineering and sustainability teams.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure information is kept up to date.
  • Take part in training and development opportunities to build your technical knowledge.
  • Support ad-hoc projects and requests as required.

Requirements

We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Junior Systems Engineer to join our sustainability and engineering team. This is a graduate or entry-level role designed for someone looking to launch a career in smart buildings and energy management., * A recent graduate, apprentice or someone at the beginning of their career in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Sustainable Energy, Data Analytics, IT or a related subject.

  • A basic understanding of electrical principles such as voltage, current and power.
  • An interest in energy, technology and how buildings operate.
  • Basic experience using Microsoft Excel or similar data tools.
  • A willingness to learn new software and technology.
  • Good attention to detail and an organised approach to work.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate issues.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to ask questions and learn from others.
  • Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a team.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career within engineering, energy and technology.

Preferred Skills (But Not Required)

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau or similar data visualisation tools.
  • Any knowledge of IoT or smart building technology.
  • Basic knowledge of systems such as BACnet, Modbus or MQTT.
  • Any programming experience, such as Python or Node-RED.
  • Basic understanding of APIs or data formats such as JSON., You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, develop your technical skills and gain valuable experience in energy management, data and smart building technology.
