Job description
- Install, configure and maintain hosted/cloud and on-premise telephone systems, including handsets, SIP services and associated equipment.
- Deploy and support softphone applications on desktop and mobile devices.
- Install and configure business routers, firewalls, managed switches and wireless access points.
- Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, voice and data networks, DHCP, IP addressing, NAT and firewall rules.
- Diagnose and resolve VoIP issues, including call quality, connectivity and handset registration faults.
- Install and support business Wi-Fi networks, investigating coverage and connectivity issues.
- Install, terminate and test structured cabling, including Cat6/Cat6a.
- Provide clear customer handovers and maintain accurate installation records and support notes.
Requirements
You must have at least three years’ hands-on experience in telecoms, alongside practical experience configuring and troubleshooting VLANs, managed switches and business routers.
The role involves working at customer premises and providing remote support. You should be comfortable taking ownership of installations and faults, working independently and explaining technical issues clearly to customers., * A minimum of three years’ hands-on experience installing and supporting business telecoms systems.
- Strong working knowledge of VoIP and SIP.
- Practical networking experience, including configuring VLANs, managed switches and business routers.
- A sound understanding of LAN/WAN networking, DHCP, DNS, IP addressing and subnetting.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot faults across telephone systems and their underlying networks.
- Experience installing and testing structured cabling.
- Ability to manage your workload and complete work to a high standard, both independently and as part of a team.
- Clear communication skills and a professional, helpful approach with customers.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Scotland.
- Based within commuting distance of Dunfermline, Fife.
Desirable experience
- Installation and support of cloud/hosted telephony platforms.
- Softphone deployment and support on desktop and mobile devices.
- Installation and maintenance of on-premise telephone systems.
- Ubiquiti UniFi, TP-Link Omada and DrayTek equipment.
- Business Wi-Fi deployments, VPN configuration and network segmentation.
