Job description

As WordPress Full Stack Developer & Client Manager, you will take full ownership of websites across our external client base.

Hear Care Direct are building out a separate digital consultancy and are building the initial team. With a current client portfolio, they are looking to rapidly expand and develop the team.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role with real autonomy. You’ll be responsible for developing, updating, monitoring, and bug-fixing websites - end-to-end. You’ll work closely with the founders, who will operate at a higher-level strategy and commercial overview, while you lead day-to-day execution, diagnostics, and client liaison.

Given the nature of the role, you’ll be highly experienced in working directly within CMS environments - particularly WordPress at a development level - and highly experienced in fixing issues that sit at the intersection of performance, and site infrastructure. You’ll be trusted to spot issues early and implement client requirements - whether that’s a new menu system, custom template fixes or a complex technical issue - and confidently advise clients on solutions, priorities, and next steps.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Website development * Should be highly experienced in full stack development (LAMP) * Fully experienced in design and developing custom WordPress Templates as well as popular page builders such as Elementor * Own website work across a portfolio of external clients * Plan and deliver work schedules across WordPress improvements, updates and fixes * Diagnose performance drops, plugin issues, or technical issues and implement fixes * Identify and resolve issues related to responsive layouts and visual improvements * Balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in high-impact and technically complex areas * Continuously refine and improve client websites * Complete site builds working with the SEO/PPC specialist to optimise performance and integration work

  2. Website design and content * Design and implement new landing pages * Be confident writing blogs and image editing * Highly experienced in full website builds including full website design * Designing pages and sites that are technically sound, fast, and conversion-focused * Work closely with the founders to align website strategy with wider commercial goals

  3. Client Ownership & Communication * Take full responsibility for the external website client base - from strategy through to delivery and reporting * Confidently lead client conversations around websites * Translate complex technical data into clear, actionable insights * Advise clients on priorities, expected impact, and realistic timelines * Support new client onboarding from a web perspective

  4. Website Hosting, Monitoring & Updates * Manage all server requirements, domains and web hosting * Keep all templates (including custom) and plugins updated * Implement full website launches, migrations, and major updates * Work primarily within WordPress environments, with expectation of exposure to other CMS platforms such as Concrete, Umbraco etc, or similar * Comfortable investigating issues at a deeper technical level, with substantial experience of hosting environments (LAMP).
