Job description

We are looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Process Engineer to help improve production methods, support new products, and solve day-to-day manufacturing challenges. This position will work closely with production, quality, engineering, sales, and other teams to make sure products can be built efficiently, consistently, and to customer expectations.

The right person will enjoy being on the manufacturing floor, figuring out why something isn’t working, finding practical solutions, and looking for ways to make processes better. This is a varied role that combines engineering, troubleshooting, documentation, new product support, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and update work instructions, manufacturing documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Help introduce new products and make sure production processes are ready for a successful launch.
  • Review engineering changes and help coordinate updates to production processes and documentation.
  • Evaluate current manufacturing methods and recommend improvements to quality, efficiency, cost, and production flow.
  • Help develop better machine setups, changeover procedures, and production methods.
  • Assist with determining labor requirements, material costs, and manufacturing methods for new projects and quotes.
  • Work with production and engineering teams to identify potential manufacturing issues before they become larger problems.
  • Provide technical support when questions or issues come up on the production floor.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, testing issues, production defects, and process problems.
  • Investigate recurring issues and help determine the root cause and appropriate corrective action.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics, engineering drawings, blueprints, and other technical information.
  • Assist with testing procedures, test equipment, training, and maintaining test documentation.
  • Help support complex assemblies and special projects as needed.
  • Work with customers or internal sales teams when technical manufacturing information is needed.
  • Look for opportunities to reduce scrap, downtime, waste, labor, and unnecessary process steps.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Help implement Lean manufacturing and other process improvement practices.
  • Assist production teams with training, standardized work, and cross-training efforts.
  • Monitor process performance and work with Quality and Operations when processes are not meeting expectations.
  • Support corrective actions, internal audits, quality initiatives, and process documentation.
  • Help maintain compliance with applicable quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Take on additional engineering and manufacturing projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience and technical education will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, engineering technology, or a similar manufacturing-focused role.
  • Experience working in an electronics, electrical assembly, electromechanical, cable/harness, or similar manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Background with new product launches, process development, or continuous improvement is preferred.
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Comfortable reading schematics, drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and priorities while staying organized.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently while also being part of a cross-functional team.

Benefits & conditions

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants more than a desk-based engineering position. You’ll have the chance to work directly with manufacturing teams, influence how products are built, solve real production problems, and make measurable improvements to the operation.
