Job description
We are seeking two Social Media Specialists to support DEA’s official social channels. You will create accurate, engaging content, coordinate approvals, support events, and use performance data to improve public information and drug-prevention communications., * Plan and produce platform-specific content for X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other approved channels.
- Maintain editorial calendars and approval workflows using tools such as Sprout Social or Hootsuite.
- Create and edit graphics, short videos, GIFs, and captions using Adobe Creative Cloud and related tools.
- Support live-event coverage and coordination with headquarters and field-office public affairs staff.
- Analyze results, recommend improvements, train other users, and keep accurate task-level time records.
- Support authorized paid campaigns and recruiting content; follow accessibility, records, privacy, and agency publishing policies., * Approved content reaches the right audiences on schedule.
- Event coverage is coordinated, accurate, and accessible.
- Reporting leads to practical improvements in reach, engagement, and campaign outcomes.
Work Environment
This position works primarily onsite at DEA Headquarters in Northern Virginia. Telework may be available under a government-approved plan. DEA will provide the equipment and software needed for contract performance. The final duty station will be confirmed during recruiting.
Physical Demands
Work primarily involves computer-based tasks, reviewing digital materials, and participating in meetings. Essential job functions may be performed with reasonable accommodation.
Expected Hours of Work
Full-time work, generally Monday through Friday during the government-approved work schedule. Specific daily hours will be discussed during recruiting.
Travel
Travel may be required if authorized for contract performance. Any specific travel expectations will be discussed during recruiting.
Employment Conditions
Anticipated start: December 1, 2026, subject to award, funding, government approval, and screening.
U.S. citizenship is required by this federal contract. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements. Work may begin only after DEA authorizes access following the required Moderate-risk public-trust review or an approved waiver., * Describe a campaign you personally supported from planning through reporting. What was the objective, your contribution, and the measured result?
- How would you adapt one DEA announcement for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and X?
- Explain how you would cover an evening live event while maintaining approvals and accessibility.
- How would you distinguish useful organic growth from paid reach or inflated engagement when evaluating a campaign?
Requirements
- At least two years of experience developing, deploying, and evaluating social media content, including collaboration with other specialists.
- Experience with scheduling/approval tools, campaign coordination, accessible content, and paid social media targeting.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications; strong writing, editing, research, and visual communication skills.
- Experience integrating platforms, increasing organizational reach, supporting LinkedIn recruiting content, and working within regulated federal social media environments.
- Current Secret clearance or ability to obtain one, as specified in the solicitation., * Degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, social media, or a similar field; federal drug-law-enforcement familiarity, journalistic writing, SEO, and influencer experience., * Bachelor’s (Preferred)
Experience:
- Social media marketing: 3 years (Preferred)
Security clearance:
- Secret (Preferred)

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year, * 401(k)
