Job description
- Provides instruction for courses at a variety of times and locations as needed
- Demonstrates a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence
- Maintains access to students through posted office hours and electronic communication
- Prepares and utilizes a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution
- Maintains current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilizes a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources
- Advises students in academic matters
- Evaluates students’ performance through a variety of means to measure progress and keep them informed in a timely manner
- Assists in the development, distribution, and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives
- Provides recommendations to the Academic Dean, Assistant Dean, Department Head, and Curriculum Resource Team regarding curriculum
- Demonstrates a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community
- Submits timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions/departments
- Exhibits a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activities
- Engages in collegial activities and service activities across the department, division, and college
- Possesses a passion for teaching community college students
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and orally
- Attends college orientation and required institutional meetings
- Responsible for other related duties as assigned, Leave time includes 16 hours personal each year and 8 hours sick leave for each month of contract. Paid leave is provided for college designated holidays, spring break, thanksgiving and Christmas break (approx. 25 days per year).
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
- Master’s degree or higher with at least 18 graduate hours in computer science. All coursework must be from an accredited college or university.
- Teaching Experience in Computer Science or highly related field (either at the college or secondary level) required.
Minimum Competencies
- Clearly explaining concepts, active listening, and providing constructive, immediate feedback.
- Creating a positive, safe, and collaborative learning environment that encourages student participation and self-management.
- Maintaining subject-matter expertise, engaging in continuous professional development, and demonstrating cultural competence., * College teaching experience.
- Online teaching experience.
- Digital game design / development experience.
Preferred Competencies
In addition to a Master’s degree in Computer Science, a Master’s degree or 18 graduate-level hours in either Information Technology or Engineering.
