Assistant Development Manager

We are working on behalf of a well-established and growing real estate development client to appoint an Assistant Development Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded individual to gain broad exposure across the full development lifecycle, working on a diverse pipeline of hotel, residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes. The Role Reporting into senior leadership, you will support the delivery of multiple development projects, from initial feasibility and planning through to construction and operational handover.This is a hands-on, varied position suited to someone looking to take the next step in their development career within a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Development & Financial AnalysisUndertake site financial appraisals and feasibility studiesBuild and maintain financial modelsSupport bank facility structuring and loan processesCarry out financial covenant testingMonitor project budgets, costs and expenditure

Planning & DesignUndertake planning appraisals across residential, hotels and commercialReview architectural designs (RIBA Stages 0-3)Liaise with planning case officers and manage submissionsReview planning permissions and discharge conditionsLead on S106 reviews, negotiations and CIL considerations

Project & Consultant ManagementLiaise with and manage consultants, architects, engineers and viability specialistsAssist with the appointment of consultants and agents (sales and lettings)Participate in and occasionally chair design team meetingsConduct regular site inspections and progress reviews

Legal & Commercial SupportAssist with legal documentation including:ASTs, leases and contractsS106 agreements and unilateral undertakingsJCT contracts and legal packs for funding and disposalsSupport legal processes relating to acquisitions, disposals and financing

Delivery & OperationsSupport project delivery to ensure a smooth transition into operation (“soft landing”)Coordinate utility applications and statutory approvalsManage street naming and numbering processesSupport monthly project drawdowns and lender reporting

Acquisitions & Market InsightConduct market research across residential, hotel and commercial sectorsIdentify and assess new development opportunitiesSupport feasibility and acquisition analysis

Experience & SkillsExperience within real estate development, consultancy or investmentStrong Excel capabilityGood understanding of UK planning system and development processesKnowledge of S106, CIL and real estate legal frameworksFamiliarity with ERP/CRM systems (desirable)
