Job description
Join a dynamic educational environment dedicated to rebuilding lives through education. We are seeking a 2nd Line IT Technician to provide advanced technical support and maintain our robust digital infrastructure. This role is crucial in supporting both academic and administrative functions, ensuring a secure and efficient technological environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex hardware and software issues, exceeding the scope of 1st line support.
- Mentor and support 1st line technicians, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
- Manage and maintain server environments, including Windows Server and virtualization technologies.
- Oversee and test backup systems and disaster contingency plans to ensure data integrity.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting across the school’s network, including LAN/WAN, wireless setups, and structured cabling.
- Manage internet filters and firewall configurations to comply with child safety standards.
- Deploy and manage software and systems using tools like Microsoft SCCM and ensure the Microsoft 365 ecosystem is optimally functioning.
- Support the Technology Manager in the planning and execution of ICT projects and provide technical liaison for external contractors.
Requirements
- Level 3 IT Qualification and GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4 or above).
- Significant experience in 1st/2nd line technical support, preferably in an educational or SEN environment.
- Proficiency in Windows Server OS, virtualization technologies like VMware, and systems management tools such as SCCM or Intune.
- Strong understanding of network development and the ability to provide clear advice to non-technical users.
- Desirable: Degree in Computer Science, MCSA/MCSE, Azure Fundamentals, CCNA, or advanced IT security certifications.
MUST HAVE AN ENHANCED DBS OR BE ON THE DBS UPDATE SERVICE
