Our client is a small, independent IT services company supporting a varied mix of businesses, from small companies to larger organisations. They are looking for a practical, proactive IT Support Technician who enjoys solving problems and looking after customers.
You might have a year or more of first-line support experience and be ready for your next step, or you could be more experienced and looking for greater autonomy. Either way, you’ll have plenty of variety, opportunities to learn, and training and support to help you develop.
One day you could be resetting passwords or crawling under a desk to sort out a connection; the next, visiting a client or helping deliver a new IT implementation. You’ll need to be happy getting stuck in wherever you’re needed.
The role of IT Support Technician:
- Provide friendly, helpful IT support to clients remotely and during site visits.
- Troubleshoot everyday hardware, software, email and connectivity issues.
- Set up computers, user accounts and equipment, helping customers get up and running.
- Organise your own workload, take ownership of issues and keep customers informed.
- Get involved in IT implementation projects, upgrades and improvements across different client environments.
- Work independently where you can, drawing on the team’s support when you need it.
Requirements
- At least one year’s experience in first-line IT support, with more experienced applicants also welcome.
- Drivers licence and own transport - essential for commute to the office and visiting client sites. Business mileage paid.
- Excellent customer service skills - being approachable, patient and able to explain things clearly is the most important part.
- A proactive, curious approach, with the initiative to investigate problems and a willingness to learn.
- Confidence working under your own supervision, alongside the judgement to know when to ask for help.
- A practical, flexible attitude and a willingness to tackle everything from routine support to more involved projects.
- Microsoft certification, a relevant degree or cyber security knowledge would be an advantage, but none is essential., * Active Directory (Line)

- Basic salary of £28,000-£32,000, depending on experience.
