Job description

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr Principal Systems Engineer for the Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) team. This position is located in Roy, Utah and supports the Sentinel program.

As an integral part of the Command Systems SEIT MS&A Execution team on the Sentinel program, you will focus on:

  • Modeling, Simulation & Analysis for specific aspects of the system such as radio frequency communications, launch execution chain, status timing, and cryptography
  • Support analysis for requirement decomposition and traceability
  • Support MBSE strategy and implementation
  • Coordinate with sub-contracted product teams for compliance with contractual SOW and established program model governance
  • Contribute content for presentations and present to internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform analysis to support derivation of lower level requirements
  • Create analysis documents, verification and validation (V&V) plans, and V&V reports

Requirements

This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (T-03) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (T-04).

Principal Systems Engineer :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with Bachelor’s degree, 3 years of experience with Master’s degree, 1 year with a PhD

Sr. Principal Systems Engineer :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 Years of related experience; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD

Required for both levels:

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • 3 years of Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis experience
  • 1 year experience with radio frequency analysis
  • Experience utilizing MS&A tools to inform design solutions, derive or verify requirements
  • Familiarity with requirements management and the verification and validation process
  • Demonstrated experience with mathematical modeling and simulation
  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, or related scientific computer programming tools
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pre-existing SAP access
  • Experience with GitLab or related source control tool
  • Experience with model verification and validation planning and execution
  • Experience with Atlassian Tool Suite
  • Knowledge of DOORS or related requirements management tool
  • Knowledge of Cameo

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Sentinelsystems

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
