Job description

You will join a focused team of 2-3 developers reporting to a technical lead. Your work will span database design, backend services, APIs, and polished user interfaces. The team supports an established platform while developing pilot solutions and custom applications for emerging operational needs.

Technology stack: Python/Django, React/Next.js, PostgreSQL/Aurora, AWS, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, and Keycloak.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, test, and maintain complete applications from database through user interface.
  • Develop Python backend services, Django-based APIs, and Backend-for-Frontend architectures.
  • Create responsive React or Next.js interfaces with thoughtful component design and state management.
  • Design PostgreSQL schemas, optimize queries, and develop data migrations and loading processes.
  • Integrate authentication and authorization using Keycloak, OIDC, SAML, JWT, and CAC/PIV.
  • Deploy and troubleshoot applications across AWS partitions, regions, and classification levels.
  • Develop and maintain Terraform infrastructure modules.
  • Support GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development workflows.
  • Interpret security scanning results and remediate application, dependency, and container vulnerabilities.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools within applicable security and data-handling requirements.
  • Deliver well-tested, documented code and communicate clearly with the technical lead and teammates., Join a high-impact development team building secure applications that directly support mission operations. You’ll have visible ownership of your work, collaborate closely with a technical lead, and use modern technologies including Python, React, AWS, and AI-assisted development tools.

Requirements

This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance, strong Python backend development skills, and hands-on experience building production frontend applications., * Active TS/SCI security clearance.

  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
  • Strong Python backend development using Django, FastAPI, or equivalent frameworks, including async/ASGI and modern Python 3.13+.
  • Production frontend development with React, Next.js, or equivalent technologies.
  • RESTful API design, Backend-for-Frontend patterns, and schema validation.
  • PostgreSQL schema design, query optimization, migrations, and data loading.
  • Practical AWS application deployment and operations experience across classified partitions and regions.
  • Terraform infrastructure-as-code experience.
  • Authentication integration using Keycloak, OIDC, SAML, or CAC/PIV.
  • Secure application development for STIG-hardened and FIPS-validated environments.
  • GitLab CI/CD and Git-based workflows.
  • Ability to interpret and remediate DevSecOps findings, including SAST, DAST, SCA, SBOM, and container scanning.
  • Daily experience using AI-assisted development tools, with an understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
  • Ability to work onsite in Suitland, MD, 2-3 days per week., * Generative AI application development, including RAG pipelines, LLM integration, or embedding-based search.
  • Legacy application and data migration to cloud-native architectures.
  • Kubernetes/EKS and Helm.
  • Hardened container supply chains and FIPS-validated image pipelines.
  • Practical application of NIST 800-53 security controls.
  • Multi-classification or cross-partition deployment architectures.
  • Familiarity with intelligence community environments and DoD mission systems.
