The Business and ERP Implementation Advisor leads client-side implementation advice and guidance for complex ERP and technology initiatives. Serves as an independent advisor to client leadership, helping organizations evaluate progress, identify risks, make informed decisions, and hold implementation partners accountable. This role will initially support a large school district ERP initiative in the Las Vegas market and will also contribute to broader technology advisory engagements across public sector, healthcare, and other industries. Responsibilities include:

  • Leads implementation advice and guidance for complex ERP initiatives, representing the client’s interests throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Advises executives, boards, steering committees, and project leaders on project status, risks, decisions, trade-offs, governance, and organizational readiness.
  • Independently evaluates implementation partner plans, timelines, status reports, deliverables, testing, data conversion, integrations, change management, cutover, and go-live readiness.
  • Identifies risks and emerging issues early, explains their business impact, and recommends practical actions for client leadership and project teams.
  • Challenges implementation partners constructively and provides an experienced, independent perspective when project expectations, timelines, or deliverables are not realistic.
  • Prepares and presents clear status reports, executive updates, risk summaries, recommendations, and decision-support materials.
  • Facilitates conversations among client leaders, business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and implementation partners to support alignment and informed decision-making.
  • Conducts technology assessments, business process reviews, requirements gathering, vendor evaluations, ERP selection support, and multi-year technology roadmap development for other client engagements.
  • Advises clients on governance, organizational readiness, change management, business process improvement, and adoption of new systems and ways of working.
  • Evaluates technology options for business fit, value, feasibility, risk, and return on investment.
  • Applies knowledge of enterprise technologies, including cloud, integration, data, automation, and artificial intelligence, to client strategy and technology planning.
  • Maintains awareness of technology trends and applies relevant knowledge to clients across school districts, government, healthcare, and other industries.
  • Manages assigned engagements and workstreams to established budgets, timelines, quality standards, and client expectations.
  • Builds trusted relationships with clients, colleagues, vendors, and implementation partners while contributing to the growth of the Technology Advisory practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Information Systems, Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.Multiple years of progressive ERP implementation, ERP program leadership, or ERP advisory experience, including participation in multiple complex implementations.
  • Demonstrated school district ERP experience and a strong understanding of the operational, financial, governance, and stakeholder considerations within a school district environment.
  • Experience with Tier 1 ERP platforms or major enterprise implementations, such as Oracle, SAP, Workday, or comparable platforms. The specific platform for the client engagement will not be named in the posting.
  • Experience independently advising senior client leaders and communicating project risk, difficult messages, and recommended actions.
  • Prior hands-on ERP implementation experience is strongly preferred because it supports the ability to evaluate implementation quality and recognize delivery risks.
  • Deep understanding of the ERP implementation lifecycle, including planning, requirements, process design, data conversion, integrations, testing, training and adoption, cutover, and go-live readiness.
  • Ability to distinguish between routine project issues and risks requiring executive attention or escalation.
  • Ability to provide independent advice without taking over the implementation partner’s configuration or technical delivery responsibilities.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to lead sensitive, high-visibility conversations with confidence and sound judgment.
  • Ability to ask effective questions, synthesize complex information, and translate technical or project issues into clear business implications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and engagements while meeting deadlines, budget expectations, and quality standards.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations and status reporting.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, coworkers, vendors, and implementation partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use project, collaboration, analysis, and documentation tools.
  • Prior experience in a hands-on ERP functional, implementation, project leadership, or delivery role before moving into advisory work.
  • Experience in other public sector or governmental environments in addition to school districts.
  • Healthcare technology advisory, ERP, finance transformation, or business process experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP/Great Plains environments or migrations from legacy ERP platforms.
  • Accounting, finance, fund accounting, procurement, or business process improvement experience.
  • Experience conducting technology assessments, developing roadmaps, supporting RFPs, or leading vendor selection activities.
  • Expected to work in the office approximately three days per week on average when not working at a client site or traveling. Client-site work may replace office days, with remote work appropriate for the remaining days based on business and client needs
