Job description

Tesla Energy is seeking an experienced Quality Leader to oversee quality operations and drive excellence in manufacturing high-quality industrial products. In this dynamic role, you’ll lead a world-class quality operations team, collaborating with operations, engineering, supply chain, production, commissioning, and service groups to develop robust products and processes from the ground up. Your focus will be on building things right the first time, fostering continuous improvement, and meeting customer expectations while supporting profitability goals. The ideal candidate is a proven problem-solver and leader with a strong quality- and customer-focused mindset, coupled with the drive for relentless improvement in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment. What You’ll Do

  • Build and lead a high-performing Quality Operations team (including Quality Supervisors, Team Leads, and Technicians) to deliver consistent, high-quality results across the Megafactory, with a focus on night-shift leadership and cross-factory collaboration to share best practices and drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure adequate staffing of competent, trained personnel to meet all quality and production targets in 24/7 Megafactory operations
  • Define and achieve clear quality metrics and objectives for the site and broader Energy business
  • Champion professional problem-solving methodologies (e.g., containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions) for factory and field issues, responding with urgency to protect Tesla customers and business interests
  • Maintain and update Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs) to identify manufacturing risks and integrate resolutions into process controls
  • Develop and sustain Control Plans, including audit protocols, to ensure critical features are monitored and controlled throughout assembly and production
  • Oversee a 24/7 quality assurance team of technicians and supervisors, implementing standardized work processes, training programs, and immediate issue resolution to ensure all products meet specifications and prevent quality escapes

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering, Six Sigma certification, ASQ-CQE, or equivalent working experience
  • 5+ years of quality leadership experience in manufacturing and/or designing new products for high-volume operations
  • Proven track record of building and leading strong teams in a 24/7 manufacturing setting
  • Expertise in quality engineering, with ASQ certifications preferred (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, Certified Quality Auditor, or Certified Manager of Quality)
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with demonstrated success using methodologies like 8D, Lean Six Sigma, and Shainin; relevant certifications are a plus
  • Specific training and proven application of Automotive Core Tools and related methods (e.g., 8D, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Capability Studies, MSA, APQP, PPAP, DOE, Hypothesis Testing) including data analysis expertise
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across teams and organizational levels
