Job description

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a high-impact BI and reporting capability within a data-led organisation. You will combine hands-on Power BI development with stakeholder engagement, helping teams access reliable insight while supporting an evolving modern data environment., As Business Intelligence and Visualisation Lead, you will:

  • Design, develop and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions in Power BI.
  • Build self-service analytics capabilities that enable stakeholders to interrogate data independently.
  • Use SQL and DAX to develop robust reporting solutions, views and semantic layers.
  • Work with Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric across the BI environment.
  • Maintain and improve existing analytical assets while ensuring reporting continuity.
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into clear, accurate and accessible reporting solutions.
  • Ensure reporting meets data quality, governance and GDPR requirements.
  • Work within Agile delivery practices, contributing to sprint planning and managing priorities through a structured backlog.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and proactively communicate delivery risks and blockers.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience across business intelligence, analytics or reporting.
  • Hands-on Power BI dashboard and report development expertise.
  • Strong SQL skills covering querying, transformation and reporting layers.
  • Experience using Azure Databricks to support BI and reporting workloads.
  • Strong DAX skills and an understanding of semantic data models.
  • Experience translating business requirements into intuitive reporting solutions.
  • Experience working in Agile or sprint-based delivery environments.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, access control and GDPR.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills, including presenting data and insight to non-technical audiences.
  • An organised approach with the ability to manage priorities and take ownership of BI delivery.

Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure DevOps, Jira, Python or AI-assisted analytics tools would be advantageous.

Benefits & conditions

  • Salary up to £60,000, depending on experience.
  • 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract.
  • Hybrid working, with Birmingham as the primary office location.
