Job description
Under direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) performs a wide range of technical, analytical, and support duties for the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration’s (CDTFA) cloud platforms, server systems, datacenters, and related components. The incumbent is responsible for implementing, maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting server infrastructure in both cloud and on premises environments. Duties are performed independently and as part of a team to ensure reliable and secure operation of CDTFA’s server infrastructure., Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Who May Apply Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available). Describe your education and/or work experience administering cloud and server infrastructure, with emphasis on Amazon Web Services (AWS). In your response, include specific examples and the number of years of experience you have with relevant AWS services (such as EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS), and your experience with complementary technologies such as virtualization platforms, SQL databases, and Active Directory.
Requirements
In addition to evaluating each candidate’s relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Extensive hands on experience administering and supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, including compute, networking, storage, security, identity, and automation services. Experience with Azure is a plus.

Strong understanding of enterprise server infrastructure and core technologies, such as Active Directory, DNS, Kerberos/authentication protocols, virtualization platforms, and related cloud services including AWS EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, and load balancing.

Experience managing cloud hosted or hybrid environments involving platforms such as AWS, Azure VMware Services (AVS), Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

Hands on experience installing, configuring, and maintaining software and infrastructure components across cloud and on prem environments.

Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and execute multiple concurrent assignments, and collaborate with cross functional teams in a dynamic operational environment., 2. Describe your experience working with cloud service models, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). Provide specific examples demonstrating how you have deployed, managed, or supported solutions using these models in AWS or other cloud environments.

$6,513.00 - $10,537.00 per Month New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
