Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Online Storage)

This role will focus on the design, operation, and reliability of large-scale storage systems that power critical backend services. You will work closely with engineering partners to build resilient database infrastructure, support zero-downtime migrations, and improve the performance and availability of core platform components. The position also involves cross-functional collaboration to help the team deliver dependable technical foundations for customer-facing products., * Build and operate the control plane for large-scale distributed SQL databases

• Design and execute reliability-focused schema and data migrations with zero downtime
• Own the networking stack connecting services to storage on Kubernetes
• Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product lifecycle
• Proactively identify and advocate for project, process, or technology issues
• Create and monitor metrics to support operations and availability of team artifacts

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Proficiency in backend technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, Terraform, and Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience with large-scale database deployments in production
• Expertise in distributed databases such as MySQL, TiDB, Postgres, and similar systems
• Solid understanding of distributed database architecture and performance tuning
• Experience with database benchmarking, load testing, and capacity planning
• Familiarity with connection poolers and proxies such as ProxySQL and RDS Proxy
