Job description

We are seeking an one (1) Network Engineer who will primarily focus on designing, configuring, and managing on-premises and cloud networks that meet our operational needs. In addition to network design and configuration, the Network Engineer will play a crucial role in decommissioning obsolete network segments to optimize performance and resource utilization. This includes troubleshooting issues with switches, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, Azure Expressroute), executing the systematic removal of legacy components, and ensuring the stability and efficiency of our network infrastructure through advanced technical expertise.

The ideal Network Engineer will excel in designing on-premises and cloud networks, configuring switches, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect), and will troubleshoot issues, decommission legacy components, and create network diagrams using advanced tools. Knowledge of network protocols and collaboration with City staff for testing and training are vital.

One of the primary goals is to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and security of our IT support processes. TSB does not have available staff with the specialized skills and experience needed to guide City staff through the iterative process of troubleshooting, resolution, and deployment of group policies and software. The Network Engineer will fill this critical gap, ensuring robust support and effective resolution of network challenges.

Duties

  • Design, manage, and troubleshoot on-premises and cloud network architectures aligned with business goals.
  • Configure and maintain network switches, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, Azure Expressroute).
  • Provide advanced technical support for escalated network-related issues.
  • Collaborate with City staff to decommission legacy network components and ensure minimal disruption.
  • Create detailed network diagrams and update documentation to support infrastructure reliability.
  • Conduct performance testing to validate network scalability and efficiency.
  • Deliver training and knowledge transfer to city staff on network processes.

Requirements

Do you have experience in VPN management?, * Degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role, with a track record of designing and managing robust on-premises and cloud network architectures.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network switches, routing protocols, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits (e.g., AWS Direct Connect).
  • Strong expertise in network design, decommissioning legacy infrastructure, and optimizing performance in enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in creating detailed network diagrams and maintaining up-to- date documentation.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • STATEMENT OF WORK NO. 2026ITB011 Network Configuration and Infrastructure Support
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Certifications in related fields would be an advantage (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, AZ-700).
  • Managing and optimizing enterprise network infrastructure.

Preferred:

  • Experience in Network Engineering and architecture design
  • Experience in configuring switches, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and CSP circuits
  • Experience in network decommissioning and optimization in enterprise environment
  • 5+ years of troubleshooting complex network issues
