Job description

  • Advises management and staff on current industry trends
  • Approves the hiring of staff, assigns projects, and evaluates performance
  • Provides for technical training and educational needs in information processing for department staff
  • Analyzes fiscal requirements and recommends department budgets for personnel, operations, hardware, and training in support of information services functions and administers funds

OPERATIONS

  • Recommends significant organization changes, aligning support and directing the change management efforts required for implementation
  • Ensures implementation of technology solutions meet client requirements
  • Ensures alignment of technology strategy with business plans and operational needs in support of the mission

SERVICE DELIVERY

  • Meets with agency leadership on a regular basis to ensure open and frequent communications as it relates to ITS service desk and service delivery and quality management expectations;
  • Handles and addresses service delivery and help desk issues directly, and/or in coordination with other ITS managers;
  • Ensures agency customers are well informed of ITS operations that impact them;Provides strategic planning and project support to ensure technology is delivered timely and meets customer expectations.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Team management?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, The selected individual will establish long-term strategic policy decisions for the service delivery and service desk areas of IT and recommend strategic technology directions. They must have significant experience managing very large and complex IT Infrastructure across an extremely broad range of technologies and possess strong skills in project management, customer service, conflict resolution, and time management and strong negotiating skills and contract management., Good knowledge of:

  • Business/public administration. Typically gained by a bachelor’s degree in business administration or public administration or a closely related field AND two years of professional work experience in the field OR completion of upper division coursework or equivalent vocational training AND four years professional work experience in either field.

Considerable knowledge of:

  • Current industry trends, products, and services in information systems, processing equipment, and software. Typically gained by at least five years of progressively responsible experience in the information technology (IT) field within the last ten years.

Experience:

  • Managing a professional information technology staff through subordinate supervisors
  • Requiring currently accepted principles and practices in the areas of systems analyses, technical support, and operations of various hardware and software platforms including legacy systems local and wide area networks
  • Distributed client/server architectures
  • Relational database management systems design and development
  • Technology architecture and information engineering
  • Data modelingEstablishment and administration of standards and conventions
