Hardware Design Hardware Testing

Job description

250+ local authorities rely on Vizzia to keep their streets cleaner and safer. Behind every camera, every connected station, every accessory deployed in the field, there’s a question that never goes away: will it still work in 18 months, in 3 years, in 5 years? Hardware quality isn’t a checkpoint at the end of the line. It’s a discipline that has to be present from R&D to supply chain, and shared across every member of the hardware team.

Today, hardware quality is handled in addition to other responsibilities. The team needs someone whose entire focus is to set the standard, build the processes, and make sure they’re applied - on our products, with our suppliers, and over time. The hardware scope at Vizzia covers cameras, stations, accessories, all the way through to deployment with manufacturing partners in China.

You’ll report to David, the hardware team’s lead. The role is transversal: no direct reports today, but expected to scale into a small quality team in the medium term. Your mission is to bring quality discipline to every step of Vizzia’s hardware development, from design choices to field reliability, and to make it a shared standard, not a constraint imposed from the outside.

Responsabilies

  1. Define and own the hardware quality plan * Build a complete quality plan covering all Vizzia hardware products, with clear deliverables for each hardware function * Set quality standards and acceptance criteria that everyone in the team can refer to * Make sure the plan is shared, understood, and applied, not a document that lives in a drive

  2. Set up processes across the development chain * Write, share and roll out quality processes across the full hardware development chain * Create the internal and external templates the team and suppliers will use day-to-day (test plans, audits, non-conformity reports, certification documentation) * Train and challenge the hardware team to embed these processes into their work

  3. Run the hardware test plans * Define test plans for every Vizzia hardware product * Make sure plans are run systematically before products reach production * Trace results so nothing falls through the cracks

  4. Drive supplier quality, including on-site in China * Set up structured supplier quality control, starting with Altior and extending to other manufacturing partners * Lead audits, define corrective action plans, follow them to closure * Travel to China around twice a year to audit suppliers and align on quality expectations on the ground * Bring down defect rates by 30 to 40% on current production

  5. Secure certifications and field reliability * Make sure documentation tied to certifications (CE in particular) is complete, up-to-date and audit-ready at any moment * Build the traceability that lets us reconstruct the full history of any product version, any evolution, any non-conformity * Improve field reliability over time, longer mean time to failure, fewer field returns

Requirements

Do you have a Master’s degree?, * Around 10 years of experience in hardware quality engineering, in industries where quality really matters

  • You’ve worked in highly regulated industries (medical, defense, aerospace) and know what real quality discipline looks like
  • You master CE standards and can take a product through certification without surprises
  • You’ve audited and worked with manufacturing suppliers, ideally including in China, and you’re comfortable traveling there
  • You combine rigor with diplomacy: hardware teams don’t usually love quality, and you know how to bring them on board without becoming the quality police
  • You’re patient and tenacious : quality is a long game, and you don’t give up when the short-term pressure builds

At Vizzia, we care about precision, ownership and getting things to work in the real world. We’re looking for someone who’s genuinely interested in what reliable hardware means for the public sector., Contrat cadre and RTT (between 8 and 12 days per year depending on public holidays)

A Mac or PC depending on your preferences
