Job description

Step into this Precision Agriculture Engineer role and build something that matters in AgriTech.

UK farming is under pressure to produce more from less land, less water and fewer hands. This Enterprise-scale AgriTech business builds the sensor networks, automation systems and data platforms that make that possible, and it’s grown into one of the sector’s established players. A Precision Agriculture Engineer joining now steps into large-scale projects with real agronomic impact, not a side experiment.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Design and calibrate sensor arrays and IoT hardware for soil, crop and weather monitoring across live farm sites

Build and refine data pipelines that turn field readings into actionable yield and irrigation recommendations

Work with GPS-guided machinery systems, tuning autosteer and variable-rate application equipment for accuracy

Troubleshoot hardware and software faults on deployed systems, often coordinating with field technicians remotely

Support integration between precision agriculture platforms and existing farm management software

Contribute to trials of new equipment and document findings for the wider engineering team, A full UK driving licence, since some site visits will be needed alongside the hybrid setup

Requirements

A degree in agricultural engineering, mechatronics, electronics or a related field, plus a few years’ hands-on experience

Working knowledge of GNSS/GPS systems, sensor networks and embedded electronics

Comfort with data analysis tools (Python or similar) for processing field data

Practical troubleshooting instincts. Farm equipment fails in the field, not the lab

Clear communication skills for explaining technical issues to agronomists and farm managers who aren’t engineers

Benefits & conditions

Salary of £35,000 to £52,500, depending on experience

Hybrid working, splitting time between the Liverpool base and site visits

Private medical and dental insurance

Enhanced pension scheme and performance-based bonuses

About the company

AgriTech is one of the few sectors where an engineer can watch their work change something as basic as whether crops grow well. The UK’s push toward sustainable, data-led farming means demand for skilled Precision Agriculture Engineers keeps climbing, and Liverpool’s mix of engineering talent and logistics infrastructure makes it a sound base for that career. Progress from field deployments into systems design or team leadership, and you’re building a career with genuine staying power.
