Job description

Perfect role for a mid professional looking to grow their AgriTech career in Leeds.

Farming is running out of land, water and labour at the same time demand keeps climbing. That’s why an established AgriTech business in Leeds is building the systems that let growers, agronomists and supply chains make better decisions with less waste. This AgriTech Software Engineer role sits right at the centre of that work, inside a company with the scale and structure to back it properly.

This isn’t a startup where you’re firefighting with no framework. It’s an enterprise operation (250+ people) with established best practices, clear reporting lines and real career paths. You’ll know what’s expected of you, and you’ll have the backing to deliver it.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Build and maintain software that processes agricultural data, from sensor feeds to yield forecasting models

Work with cross-functional teams to translate field-level problems into working technical solutions

Write clean, tested code and contribute to code reviews across the engineering team

Integrate with third-party APIs covering weather data, satellite imagery and IoT hardware

Troubleshoot production issues on live systems used by farms and agribusinesses across the UK

Requirements

Solid commercial experience building backend or full-stack applications, ideally 2-4 years

Comfortable with a modern language stack (Python, Java or similar) and working with APIs and databases

Some exposure to data pipelines, IoT integrations or geospatial data is a strong plus

Able to work independently on a defined piece of work without needing constant direction

Clear communicator who can explain technical trade-offs to non-technical colleagues

Genuine curiosity about agriculture or sustainability helps, even if you’re new to the sector

Benefits & conditions

Salary of £37,500 to £50,000, depending on experience

Hybrid working from the Leeds office, with flexibility built in rather than bolted on

Private medical and dental insurance

Enhanced pension scheme and performance-based bonuses

A structured benefits package and defined progression routes, not vague promises

Why pursue a career in AgriTech?

About the company

AgriTech is one of the few sectors where good engineering has an obvious, measurable impact. Every efficiency gain means less waste and more food produced with fewer resources. Leeds has quietly become one of the UK’s stronger hubs for this kind of work, with an enterprise employer base that offers the stability and progression newer AgriTech scenes can’t always match. Get in now as an AgriTech Software Engineer and you’re building a career in an industry that isn’t going anywhere.
