Job description

Building and maintaining features across the platform’s data ingestion, processing and visualisation layers

Writing clean, tested code for services that turn raw field sensor data into decisions a farmer can actually use

Working directly with agronomists and customers to understand what the platform gets wrong before it becomes a support ticket

Improving system reliability as usage scales through the growing season, when traffic spikes hardest

Contributing to technical decisions on architecture, tooling and third-party integrations

Requirements

A few years’ commercial experience building and shipping web applications or backend services

Solid grounding in at least one modern language or framework, plus a genuine interest in picking up whatever the platform needs next

Comfort working with APIs, databases and cloud infrastructure without needing detailed handholding

An ability to talk to non-technical users and translate their problems into working software

Curiosity about agriculture, sustainability or environmental data, even without a farming background

Good judgement about when to build something properly and when a quick fix will do

Benefits & conditions

Salary of £37,000 to £49,500, depending on experience

Hybrid working from Glasgow, with real flexibility on hours

Equity in the business, so you share in what you help build

A learning and development budget you’re actually encouraged to use

A flat structure where your ideas reach decision-makers directly, not through five layers of management

Why pursue a career in AgriTech?

Agriculture is one of the last major industries to go properly digital, and that gap is closing fast. Glasgow has quietly become a decent base for this kind of work, close enough to Scotland’s farming regions to stay grounded in the real problem while still offering the tech scene you’d expect from a major city. Get in at mid-level now and there’s a clear path toward senior and lead roles as the sector matures.

About the company

Scotland’s food and farming sector is under pressure to produce more with less land, less water and fewer people willing to do the work by hand. The company behind this AgriTech Platform Developer role builds software that helps growers and agribusinesses make sense of sensor data, satellite imagery and crop yield patterns in something close to real time. It’s a small team with big ambitions, and Glasgow gives them easy reach into both the tech talent pool and Scotland’s rural producer base.
