Python (Programming Language) Key Management Cloudformation Infrastructure Automation Frameworks Terraform

Requirements

Solid hands-on experience securing AWS or Azure environments in production

Working knowledge of IAM, network segmentation, encryption and key management

Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation

Comfort scripting in Python or similar for automation and tooling

Clear communication skills. You’ll need to explain risk to people who aren’t security specialists

A genuine appetite for a startup pace, where priorities shift and you pick things up fast

Benefits & conditions

Cloud breaches rarely start with a dramatic hack. They start with a misconfigured bucket, an overly generous IAM role, or a patch that never shipped. This growing cybersecurity startup builds tools that catch those gaps before attackers do, and it’s scaling its Liverpool base to meet demand from clients who can no longer treat cloud security as an afterthought. You’d join a small, sharp team where your fixes go live the same week, not the same quarter.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Designing and hardening secure cloud architectures across AWS and Azure environments

Building automated security controls into CI/CD pipelines so vulnerabilities get caught before deployment, not after

Running threat modelling and risk assessments on new infrastructure before it goes live

Investigating security incidents and alerts, then closing the root cause rather than just the symptom

Writing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code with security baked in from the first line

Working directly with engineering and product teams to keep security practical, not a bottleneck

Here are the skills you’ll need, £53,000 to £65,500, depending on experience

Equity in a business that’s actually growing

Hybrid working from the Liverpool base, with flexible hours built around how you work best

A proper learning and development budget, plus a remote-friendly culture when you need it

Flat structure. No layers of approval between you and a decision

Why pursue a career in Cybersecurity?

Every company is now a target, which means demand for people who can secure cloud infrastructure properly isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Liverpool has quietly built a strong cybersecurity and tech scene, and a Cloud Infrastructure Security Engineer role here puts you close to that community without the London price tag. Good practitioners in this field write their own ticket. The skills compound, and so does the pay.
