Job description
We are adding a Junior BI Analyst to the team to help us manage data for a logistics and shipping group in France. We are currently building a series of internal dashboards that track haulage efficiency and cargo delays across their transport network. Your work will focus on making sure the data coming out of their shipping systems is accurate and presented in a way that their operations managers can actually use to make daily decisions. This is a permanent, full-time role that is fully remote, reporting to our team in the United States while we focus on this specific French logistics project. Employment setup This position is a permanent, full-time remote role. You will be hired directly by Pixel Systems, which is a United States based entity. We welcome candidates from any country, provided you have the legal right to work in your own place of residence. While we work remotely, we require all team members to be available for core sync hours between 14:00 and 18:00 UTC. This is a paid position that offers attractive pay. Pixel Systems provides a dedicated budget for necessary work equipment, and there are no fees of any kind to apply or start in this role. We do not require you to purchase your own software or hardware as a condition of employment. The hiring process consists of a 20 minute screening call, a 45 minute technical discussion about how you approach data, and a final conversation with one of our founders. We aim to complete this process within two to three weeks. About Pixel Systems Pixel Systems is a small software agency that builds the tools businesses actually use every day. We do not build flashy social media apps or marketing sites. Instead, we focus on the practical stuff: admin panels, CRM integrations, and database migrations. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a confusing spreadsheet with a proper database or get their different software tools to communicate with one another. We are a senior team of developers and designers who prefer solving real operational headaches. We value code that works over a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes, perform weekly demos, and hand over every piece of documentation and code when we finish a project., Working as a Junior BI Analyst here means you will be dealing with the raw, often messy data that comes from real-world operations. You will spend time cleaning up shipping logs, identifying where data is missing, and writing SQL queries to pull relevant information into visualization tools. You will help build and maintain dashboards that show things like fuel consumption, delivery times, and warehouse capacity. Because we work with a logistics and shipping group in France, you will be looking at data points that involve European transit routes and regional carrier schedules. You will also help our developers ensure that the database migrations we perform for our clients do not lose any critical historical information. What you bring, Working here is different from working at a large tech company. We are a small team with no management layers. You will get to see exactly how your work helps a warehouse manager or a fleet coordinator do their job better. We do not have endless meetings; we prefer to get the work done and show the results in our weekly demos. Because we are fully remote, we rely on clear writing and being reliable. When we say we will fix something, we fix it. You will have the chance to learn from senior developers who have been building systems for a long time and who value simple, maintainable solutions over the latest trends. We focus on building stable software that our clients can rely on for years. If you enjoy digging into data and making sense of complicated systems, you will fit in well here. We follow all relevant GDPR and data protection rules to ensure our clients information stays secure.
Requirements
We are looking for someone who is organized and detail-oriented. You do not need years of experience, but you should be the kind of person who notices when a total at the bottom of a spreadsheet does not match the sum of its parts. You should be comfortable working with rows of numbers and finding inconsistencies. Since we handle sensitive logistics data, you must be able to follow strict data protection and confidentiality protocols. We need someone who is fine with work that is not always flashy. Shipping logs and inventory lists are the backbone of our clients businesses, and we need someone who takes pride in making that data clear and useful.
- A basic understanding of SQL and how databases are structured.
- Experience using Excel or Google Sheets to organize information.
- The ability to explain what a chart or graph is showing to someone who is not a data expert.
- Comfort working in a fully remote environment where communication happens through text and video calls.
- An interest in learning how to use professional BI tools and dashboard builders.
Helpful background While this is an entry-level position, some exposure to certain tools can help you get started faster. We do not expect you to be an expert in these, but familiarity is a plus:
- Some exposure to Postgres or other relational databases.
- Familiarity with GitHub for tracking changes in your work.
- A basic understanding of how APIs move data between different software programs.
- An interest in the logistics or shipping industry.
- Studying toward or recently completed a degree in a field like statistics, computer science, or business.
