Lead/Sr. Java Developer

A recognized institution in Virginia is seeking a Lead/Sr. Java Developer in Richmond to support the design, development, and delivery of complex software components for an enterprise workflow modernization initiative., * Lead end-to-end solution design, development, and implementation for complex software components * Apply Java development expertise to build scalable, secure, and maintainable applications * Design software architecture, database structures, and microservices-based solutions * Mentor junior and mid-level developers and promote consistent engineering practices * Conduct technical reviews, troubleshoot issues, and support deployment and production stability

8+ years of hands-on software development experience and 3+ years leading development teams * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field * Strong proficiency in Java and experience with multiple programming languages and frameworks * Knowledge of software design patterns, relational and document databases, and SQL * Understanding of cloud computing platforms and services * Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and other software development methodologies * Proven ability to guide and mentor junior and mid-level developers * Experience contributing to project estimation and planning * Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills * Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills * Adaptability to changing project requirements and technologies * Knowledge of software security principles and best practices

Desired Skills: * 12+ years of software development and design experience and 7+ years leading development teams * Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field * Agile or Scrum certification * Relevant certifications in Java, Spring, React, Angular, or related development technologies * Experience designing complex software systems and implementing microservices-based solutions * Proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies * Familiarity with DevOps tools, continuous integration and deployment, and infrastructure as code * Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity practices and integrating security into software development * Proficiency with NoSQL databases
