Telecom Installation Engineer - VoIP & Networking

We’re looking for an experienced Telecoms Installation Engineer to install, configure and maintain business VoIP/PBX phone systems, routers, networking equipment and Wi-Fi solutions at customer sites across England.

You’ll need previous hands-on experience installing or maintaining PBX/VoIP telephone systems, a good understanding of business networking and a full UK driving licence. This is a field-based position involving regular travel, so you’ll need to be comfortable working independently at customer sites and travelling outside of your local area when required.

You’ll take ownership of installations from arriving on site through to configuration, testing, customer training and completion, making technical decisions where required and ensuring the customer is fully operational before you leave.

What you’ll be doing…

• Travelling to customer sites to install, configure and maintain business VoIP/PBX telephone systems, broadband, networking equipment and Wi-Fi- including Unify, NEC & Elevate.
• Surveying customer sites, understanding requirements and identifying the best technical approach for each installation
• Configuring routers, networking equipment, handsets and associated hardware
• Taking ownership of installations, identifying and resolving technical blockers and escalating where necessary
• Fully testing phone, broadband, network and Wi-Fi services before completing an installation
• Training customers on their new systems and ensuring they’re confident using them before you leave site
• Completing clear and detailed job notes, documenting work completed, configuration, testing, outstanding issues and any required follow-up
• Communicating effectively with customers and our office-based Technical Support team throughout each job

• At least 1 year’s hands-on experience installing and/or maintaining business PBX or VoIP telephone systems
• Good practical knowledge of business broadband, routers, networking and Wi-Fi.
• Confident configuring and troubleshooting equipment at customer sites
• Comfortable surveying sites and making independent technical decisions
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Organised and methodical, with good attention to testing and technical documentation
• Confident communicating with customers and providing system training
• Full UK driving licence and comfortable regularly travelling to customer sites across England, * How many years of hands-on experience installing and/or maintaining business PBX or VoIP telephone systems do you have?

We’re looking for someone based in or around the Cambridge area.

This is a field-based position, and you’ll regularly travel to customer sites across England. Some appointments will therefore require longer journeys outside of your local area and occasional overnight stays, so flexibility with travel is essential.
