Job description
- Write idempotent Ansible Playbooks and structure roles for reusability, managing dependencies effectively.
- Develop YAML and Jinja2 templates with a deep understanding of syntax, filters, and conditionals for dynamic configuration.
- Build dynamic and static inventories, configure host variables, and integrate with external sources for inventory management.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Linux administration across distributions such as RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, and Alpine, including package management, systemd, networking, and security hardening.
- Support Windows environments by utilizing Ansible Windows modules, PowerShell remediation, and Active Directory integration (if applicable).
- Combine Ansible with Terraform or CloudFormation for hybrid infrastructure or use Ansible alone for configuration post-provisioning.
- Use Ansible for cluster bootstrapping, pod/deployment management, and container runtime configuration in Kubernetes environments.
- Leverage Git workflows for playbook and role repositories, including branching strategies and pull request reviews.
- Integrate Ansible runs into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure Pipelines for automated testing, linting, and deployment.
- Use Molecule and TestInfra for role testing and server validation, ensuring compliance with schema and policy standards.
- Manage secrets securely by integrating HashiCorp Vault, Ansible Vault, or cloud KMS for passwords, API keys, and TLS certificates.
- Ensure playbooks meet organizational security standards, generate compliance reports, and maintain audit trails.
- Handle networking basics such as DNS, DHCP, VPCs/subnets, load balancers, firewalls, and IP management.
- Develop familiarity with other Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation to support hybrid or multi-cloud strategies.
- Integrate Ansible outputs into monitoring systems (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk) for operational visibility and drift detection.
- Use Python or Bash for scripting, custom modules, hooks, or automation infrastructure.
Requirements
- Proven experience in writing Ansible playbooks and roles, YAML, Jinja2 templating, and dynamic inventory management.
- Strong Linux system administration skills across multiple distributions, including security hardening.
- Experience with Windows Ansible modules, PowerShell scripting, and Active Directory (applicable).
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure Pipelines.
- Experience using Molecule, TestInfra, and schema or policy validation tools.
- Ability to manage secrets securely through HashiCorp Vault, Ansible Vault, or cloud KMS.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and cloud infrastructure components.
- Scripting skills in Python and Bash for customization and automation.
