Technical Lead

• Provide hands-on technical leadership, set technical direction and promote engineering best practices
• Lead, mentor and support engineers, encouraging technical growth, collaboration and continuous improvement

• Guide architectural and design decisions across frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure and data

• Lead technical discussions, code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions
• Work with product and engineering stakeholders to turn business requirements into effective technical solutions
• Balance team leadership with hands-on development and active involvement in software delivery
• Establish and improve AI-first workflows, evaluate emerging tools and coach engineers in their effective and responsible use
• Set quality controls for AI-generated code and explore automation of repetitive engineering work
• Design, develop and maintain features end-to-end, from user interfaces and APIs through databases, infrastructure and deployment
• Contribute to system architecture, technical design and engineering standards
• Build robust, maintainable and well-tested production code and resolve complex technical challenges across the application stack
• Support continuous integration, automated testing and deployment processes
• Address performance, security, scalability and observability throughout the development lifecycle

• Strong commercial experience in full stack software development, working confidently across frontend, backend and infrastructure
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring developers or owning engineering delivery
• Working knowledge of a modern frontend framework such as React, Vue, Svelte or similar
• Backend development experience with technologies such as TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Go, C# or similar
• Experience with relational databases, REST and/or GraphQL APIs, and cloud infrastructure
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and infrastructure-as-code concepts
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, performance, security and maintainability
• Ability to evaluate technical approaches, communicate trade-offs and make sound architectural decisions

We are recruiting for a hands-on Technical Lead Full Stack Developer to lead a forward-thinking, AI-first software engineering team. This is an office-based, onsite role in Southampton, Hampshire, with a salary of circa £70,000-£80,000 plus benefits.
