Job description

The Scrum Master ensures that their agile development pods live and practice the desired agile values and follow the agreed upon processes and practices.

The Scrum Master is more advanced in their technique and profession than an Associate and performs higher maturity team tasks such as Release Planning, Quarterly Agile Scorecard reviews amongst the responsibilities of the core ceremonies of Sprint Planning, Daily Standup, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Demo and Sprint Retrospective. The Scrum Master can also act as a proxy product owner in guiding priority if the product owner is not available. The Scrum Master is comfortable joining new teams and quickly defining the TWA, DoR and DoD without or with minimal guidance from a Senior Scrum Master.

The Scrum Master has at least three years’ experience in the chosen Agile methodology within the pod and educates others to raise the overall level of agile maturity, while taking guidance and coaching from a mentoring Senior Scrum Master. A Scrum Master can clear obstacles and establish an environment where the team can maximize their effectiveness by limiting interruptions and distractions. They also facilitate a healthy collaborative relationship between the pod and product owner and maintain a safe working environment for the team by helping with conflict resolution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

% of Time:

10 % - Manage scope, process, timelines, and metrics for up to 3 development pods while removing blockers, resolving conflicts, and facilitating internal team communication and collaboration

40 % - Coordinate sprints, retrospective meetings, show and tells, grooming and planning meetings, and daily stand-ups

10 % - Build and maintain a productive environment where team members ‘own’ the product, drive value through outcomes, and enjoy their work

10 % - Coach team members and business stakeholders in the chosen agile framework and guide the pods to higher levels of agile maturity

5 % - Be the point of contact for external communications with stakeholders and support the product owners on grooming and maintaining the product backlog

5 % - Act as a change agent within the team and help the pods implement changes effectively

20 % - Ensure deliverables are up to quality standards at the end of each sprint

Requirements

Do you have a valid Professional Scrum Master I certification?, Do you have experience in Workplace dispute resolution?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Bachelor’s Degree in a business or technology field or equivalent proven experience in an agile environment

Experience:

  • Minimum relevant 3 to 6 year(s) of experience in a hands-on application development Scrum Master role for more than one agile development pods

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • First Level Scrum master certification (e.g. CSM, PSM) is required
  • Product Owner, PMI-ACP, and other agile certifications are highly desirable
  • Familiarity with software development and prioritization methodologies
  • Mid-level knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, team working agreement, acceptance criteria)
  • Good knowledge of Agile frameworks (pair programming, Kanban, etc.),
  • Awareness of Agile techniques like TDD, BDD, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery
  • Excellent communication, and servant leadership skills
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability
  • Outstanding organizational skills, The salary range for this position is approximately $100K-$110K base annually. This range reflects our good faith estimate to pay fairly as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process
