Job description

  • Under supervision of the Applications Support Manager, provides a single point of contact for problem reporting or inquiries.
  • Maintains Berrien County applications and other County software applications by designing user interfaces, creating reports, and providing or scheduling user training.
  • Designs and implements data process strategies to collect data and create statistical reports for management., * Manages and maintains Berrien County assigned applications to assure accurate and timely reporting regarding program service delivery, client information, financial information and other events or functions as they pertain to services and administration of assigned applications.
  • Through interaction with assigned applications, County personnel and Information Systems managers and director, uses applications to design/enhance and implement data management processes, activities and forms regarding County activities/functions.
  • Provides application support and advice to customers of the assigned County software applications.
  • Provides technical assistance to users of assigned County applications and Information Systems staff.
  • Coordinates scheduling for assigned applications, including changes, upgrades, and enhancements to meet deadlines.
  • Trains customers in new and upgraded production applications.
  • Writes and modifies various reports as needed by the Berrien County departments.
  • Assists County staff in creating regular program reports.
  • Coordinates customer support with the Help Desk and/or application vendor(s).
  • Submits various scheduled reports.
  • Schedules production runs to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Develops and revises application documentation for data entry and system use.
  • Assigns and maintains security for all users of the assigned County applications.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of new techniques in information technology.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Typing?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or computer-related field and a minimum of two years of full-time experience in a technology position with multi-platform data integration responsibilities in a customer support environment using computerized software; OR

  • Associate degree in Computer Information Systems or computer-related field and a minimum of four years of full-time experience in a technology position with multi-platform data integration responsibilities in a customer support environment using computerized software; OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of six years of full-time experience in a technology position with multi-platform data integration responsibilities in a customer support environment using computerized software.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle throughout the course of employment.
  • May be subject to call-in during off duty hours.
  • The position is based in Saint Joseph but travel to other County locations is required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Advanced knowledge of PCs (hardware and software), Microsoft applications, various file formats, and multi-platform data integration.
  • Strong data entry, keyboarding, typing, and telephone skills.
  • Clear understanding of county government functions and public health department services.
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting and accounting.
  • Able to present information effectively to department directors/managers, department heads, elected officials, and/or Board of Commissioners.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, verbal and written, at all levels within the organization.
  • Diplomatic and effective in interacting with customers.
