Job description

Beyond core technical delivery, the ideal professional serves as a technical anchor-mentoring peer engineers, driving material cost and warranty reductions, and maintaining an absolute focus on failure mode avoidance through rigorous engineering discipline., * Design & Release Ownership: Lead, review, and approve Subframes Structure and Tow Hook designs from forward-model concept through manufacturing launch.

  • Attribute Management: Ensure overall design compliance with critical vehicle attributes, including packaging, crashworthiness, durability, thermal management, and commercial upfitting.
  • Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve complex structural, durability, assembly, and functional issues during development and launch phases.
  • Quality & Robustness: Drive strict failure mode avoidance by establishing and applying rigorous engineering disciplines, including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Perfect Drawing Plans, and Engineering Specifications.

Continuous Improvement & Optimization

  • Cost & Warranty Control: Lead focused initiatives for Material Cost Reduction (VOME/TVM) and warranty reduction to improve product margin and field quality.
  • Benchmarking: Conduct competitive benchmarking studies to identify best-in-class structural designs, manufacturing processes, and efficiency improvements.

Team Leadership & Knowledge Sharing

  • Technical Mentorship: Act as a subject matter expert and coach to peer engineers, fostering continuous professional development.
  • Technical Forums: Guide and lead regular knowledge exchanges through Technical Club forums to share lessons learned and standardize best practices across the team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with manufacturing engineering, procurement, suppliers, and attributes teams to drive program alignment.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Lean Six Sigma Certification certification?, Do you have experience in Technical writing?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering?, Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required (Master’s preferred)

Experience: 3+ years of Design and Release (D&R) experience specifically in frames, subframes, or structures, Required Technical Skills & Experience

  • Design & Release (D&R): Proven track record of successfully releasing and launching structural automotive components (subframes, frames, or tow hooks).
  • Failure Mode Avoidance: Deep practical knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and technical engineering specifications.
  • Manufacturing Alignment: Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering principles and how structural designs impact assembly plant feasibility.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong capability to lead cross-functional engineering groups and present complex technical data clearly, both in writing and verbally.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Lean Methodologies: Proficiency or certification in Lean Six Sigma methodologies for problem-solving and process optimization.
  • Structural Acumen: 3 or more years of dedicated experience focused on chassis frames or structural body-in-white (BIW) components.
