UNCOMN is seeking an AWS Cloud Architect (Cloud Engineer 4) to:

  • Design AWS GovCloud infrastructure patterns that support resilience, scalability, observability, and cost control.
  • Define cloud service selection, network patterns, environment strategy, and platform guardrails for delivery teams.
  • Support architecture decisions for IAM, encryption, logging, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Create and maintain architecture views, technical recommendations, and implementation guidance for engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with application, platform, security, and DevSecOps team members to ensure designs are practical and supportable.
  • Help evaluate tradeoffs between managed services, container platforms, serverless patterns, and more traditional hosting approaches.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Technical solutions implementation?, * 8+ years of related experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, CMIS, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or 4 additional years of related experience.
  • Hands-on AWS architecture experience spanning core infrastructure, networking, security, and managed services.
  • Experience designing scalable and resilient cloud environments for business-critical applications.
  • Ability to turn technical and operational requirements into actionable architecture patterns and decisions.
  • Experience working with engineering teams to implement cloud standards through automation and repeatable patterns.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain architecture decisions, risks, and tradeoffs.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance or similar, granted by the U.S. Government, which requires U.S. citizenship. The government also uses 13 adjudicative guidelines to determine an individual’s eligibility.
  • Must be willing to obtain relevant certifications as required by future client or contract needs.

Preferred

  • AWS Solutions Architect certification(s).
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud, FedRAMP High, FISMA, or other regulated cloud requirements.
  • Familiarity with EKS/ECS, cost optimization practices, and high-availability design patterns.
  • Candidates local to the St. Louis Metro East market/within commuting distance preferred, although not required.
