Job description

  • Input, processing, and maintenance of Alabama Power Distribution Lines and Equipment assets in an ESRI GIS database.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Productivity software?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * 2 -12 years of experience in a related field.

  • GIS Certificate or Geographical Information Systems degree or at least 2 years of full time GIS work required., * High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree (Geography, GIS, or similar field), or GIS Certificate, or at least 2 years of full time GIS work experience is required
  • Power Distribution knowledge is a plus
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software required
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro software is a plus
  • Competency with standard computer software, to include Microsoft Office suite is required
  • Capable of working in a team environment is required
  • Experience with CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) is a plus
  • Flexible to work 40 hours per week, M-F, in an office environment in Birmingham, Alabama.
  • Shifts may be 8 or 10 hours per day, starting as early as 7am and ending as late as 5pm.
  • Flexible to work remotely (from home) as well after training.
  • Remote work requires stable broadband Internet connection of 20mb/s or capable of supporting remote desktop connections over VPN and is responsibility of worker.

Note: Following an estimated training period of ~3 months in Birmingham, AL (duration may vary by individual), the role may transition to primarily remote work, with occasional in-office requirements for meetings, training, or other business needs. However, only candidates currently residing locally will be considered. Those willing to relocate will not be eligible. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the Birmingham office, as per diem will not be provided for any on-site requirements.
